Research Areas

Research at the NRCCL and SeGov is organized under one of five areas presented below.

eGovernment

E-government concerns the use of ICT in the public sector, i.e. in connection with the exercise of government, service provision and internal administration. Questions related to government and democracy also fall within this research area.

Data Protection and Information Security

The NRCCL have long played a significant role in the research and discourse regarding data protection and many ground-breaking doctoral thesis were written. The NRCCL has also carried out research in information security. First in connection with data protection and, later on, as a more independent field of study as well.

Electronic Commerce

Electronic commerce is a collective term for a bunch of legal issues concerned with the trade of goods and services on the Internet. Many of the issues are linked with the formation of contract on the Internet, as well as with the basic contract mechanism.

Media Law and Internet Governance

Many of the issues are linked with the formation of contracts on the Internet, as well as with the basic contract mechanism. In the later years Internet governance has also gained great importance.

Legal Technology

Legal technology is about how we can use information and communication technology (ICT) to make the legal system more effective and robust.
