Cecilia Marcela Bailliet
Background
Cecilia M. Bailliet is Professor, Deputy Director of the Department of Public and International Law, and Director of the Masters Program in Public International Law. She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has a combined J.D./M.A. (honours) degree from The George Washington University Law School & Elliott School of International Affairs. She received her Doctorate in law from the University of Oslo. She researches transnational and cross-disciplinary issues within international law linked to the vulnerability of humanity. Her work has been described as pursuing unconventional approaches to conventions. She has served as consultant to national and international organizations, and her research has been the basis for the creation of guidelines in various institutions. She is a Book Review editor at the Nordic Journal of International Law. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of Aarhus University's School of Business and Social Sciences. In 2012, she will serve as part of the Honorary Jury for the American University Washington College of Law Academy of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law's Prize for Best Essay on Human Rights.
