Background

Eléonore Maitre-Ekern graduated in Law from the University of Geneva (2005) and holds a Master in European Law from the College of Europe (2007). After being employed at the Center of European Studies in Geneva, she completed work experience at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg, at the Brussels Secretariat of the European Free Trade Association.

In 2010, Eléonore completed a second Master in Energy and Environmental Law at the University of Leuven and wrote her Master paper on the protection of biodiversity through environmental liability. Before joining the University of Oslo, she worked at ClientEarth, an environmental lawyers’ organisation based in Brussels, where she had the opportunity to work on various issues, notably waste, access to environmental information, sustainable public procurement and energy efficiency.

Special fields

Eléonore Maitre-Ekern works with European and international environmental law. Her PhD project focuses on the prevention of environmental effects of products through producer responsibility.
