Background

Ole Kristian Fauchald graduated as cand. jur. at the Law Faculty, University of Oslo in Oslo in 1991. He was awarded the degree of dr. juris by the Faculty for the thesis "Environmental Taxes and Trade Discrimination", published by Kluwer International in 1998. Thereafter, he worked as an adviser to the Ministry of Environment for two years, before returning to the Faculty as post doctoral researcher and subsequently associate professor. He is currently professor at the Department for Public and International Law. During the academic year 2006-07 he spent a year as guest researcher at Peking University. Since 2009 he has been part time researcher at the Fridtjof Nansen Institute.

Field of research

Ole Kristian Fauchald focuses on national and international environmental law, international trade law (WTO) and international investment law. He has also published on human rights law. He is member of the Research Group on Internationalisation of Law and the Research Group on Natural Resources Law, and he is on the steering group of the project "The Legitimate Roles of the Judiciary in the Global Order" (awarded Centre of Excellence Status).

Teaching

Ole Kristian Fauchald has teaching experience in public international law, international environmental law, international trade law, international investment law, constitutional law, environmental law and administrative law. Here is an overview of my current teaching.
