LCIA International Dispute Resolution for the Millennium

  2

•  State of the art, international Arbitration Rules

  3

•  Universally applicable international Mediation Procedure

  4

•  A pool of international arbitrators and mediators of the highest calibre and expertise

  5

•  A membership of over 1000 international ADR experts worldwide

  6

The LCIA inaugurated in 1892, is probably the longest-established of all the major international institutions for dispute resolution, but also one of the most modern and forward-looking. Its organisation, operation and outlook, and the services which it provides, are world-wide.

  7

The LCIA provides cost-effective administration of arbitration, mediation and other methods of ADR, in any venue and under any system of law.

  8

The LCIA has access to a unique database of the most eminent international arbitrators and mediators, with expertise in all areas of law, commerce and finance.

  9

Although based in London, it is a genuinely international institution, offering efficiency, flexibility and neutrality to all parties involved in dispute resolution under its auspices.

  10

The LCIA's dispute resolution services are available to all contracting parties, without any membership requirements. However, individuals and organisations may become members of the LCIA. As members, they may avail themselves of many benefits, including:

  11

•  Receipt of the LCIA's quarterly journal "Arbitration International", its newsletter and directory.

  12

•  The opportunity to attend its renowned symposia and conferences organised worldwide.

  13

LCIA provides a comprehensive commercial arbitration service for operation under any system of law in any venue throughout the word, including under its own Rules and also under the UNCITRAL Rules.

  14

Users' Councils

  15

To enable the LCIA to maintain its worldwide services and to meet the ever changing needs of the international business community, it has formed "Users" Councils covering the major trading areas of the world.

  16

There are five Councils at the present time:

  17

•  LCIA European Council - covering all European and adjacent countries including countries of Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

  18

•  LCIA North American Council - covering countries of North America and adjacent countries.

  19

•  LCIA Asia-Pacific Council - covering countries of South-East Asia and around the Pacific rim.

  20

•  LCIA Pan-African Council - covering countries of sub-Saharan Africa.

  21

•  LCIA * Council - covering Central and South America and the Carribbean

  22

Membership of these Councils - corporate lawyers and others from international and multinational industrial, commercial and trading organisations; international lawyers and firms of lawyers; and practicing international arbitrators - is drawn from more than 70 countries.
