About the project

The research project centers on three case studies of International Organizations wielding direct power over individuals. For each of these case studies I analyze the accountability mechanisms that individuals presently have access to when their rights, and assess their sufficiency. The three case studies are:

  • Accountability mechanisms of the ICC Detention Centre.

  • Accountability mechanisms in connection with the European Union's Common Security and Defence Policy Missions, notably the NAVFOR operation off the coast of Somalia and EULEX Kosovo.

  • Accountability mechanisms in connection with UNHCR-administered refugee camps.

The project is expected to conclude in March 2017, with the submission of my PhD thesis.
