Bedoya: Bones Can Speak and Tell a Story but Who is Telling It?

Shakira Bedoya Sanchez, Postdoctoral fellow at Pluricourts, shares her expereriences during a training on forensic anthropology in Guatemala city in a recent blog post on ALLEGRA - a Virtual Lab of Legal Anthropology.

The anthropological analysis focuses on the thousands individuals detained-disappeared in the aftermath of the Guatemalan internal conflict (1960-1996). The analysis of skeletal remains aims at highlighting patterns to allow inferences about the manner and cause of death with the aim of informing on what really happened.
