In a series of three articles in Göteborgs-Posten Naurin examines the present state and future of the European Union. So far, flexible integration has meant that, when faced with an obstacle, rather than falling over the EU changes shape and continues to integrate. Naurin therefore suggests that instead of the bike metaphore - the EU has to keep moving forward or else it falls - we should start talking about it as an amphibious vehicle with the properties of a chameleon.
