The National Institution assists with counselling concerning which instances, mechanisms and organisations that can be relevant in connection with individual cases or complaints. 

No mandate to deal with individual cases

The Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) is an independent research institution. In accordance with Royal Decree Res. 21 September 2001, the NCHR is not mandated to deal with individual cases.

The National institution shall thus not deal with or take a stand on individual cases or complaints concerning violations of human rights in Norway.

* The Norwegian Bar Association's Operations and Procedures Group has as its goal to improve legal aid for asylum seekers and immigrants. Lawyers will provide free assistance in concrete cases, which are selected on the basis of application for assistance. The group gas established its own secretariat, which since March has received applications for assistance.
