The NCHR has supported the publication of three Chinese books about how to counter domestic violence against children, against women and against the elderly. The books were launched on July 13 with a seminar about the implementation of the Chinese anti-domestic violence law.

The second teacher training lecture series on Gender and Human Rights Education took place in Shanghai in the end of September. The aim is to facilitate so that more universities in China are able to offer courses on human rights issues related to gender inequality.

The Convention against Torture and Other Inhuman, Degrading Treatment does not present a special percept on equality and non-discrimination, because torture is an absolute right and thus implicit of non-discrimination.

The equality and non-discrimination principle is present in law instruments that generally deal with human rights, like in the Bill of Rights that comprises the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR).

More than 30 representatives from Asian NGOs working on disability and SOGI issues are participating in the conference organised by NCHR, the Research Center for Ars Vivendi (RCAV) of Ritsumeikan University in Japan and the East Lake Institute at Wuhan University in China.
