European Colloquia on Maritime Law Research (ECMLR)
The European Colloquia on Maritime Law Research is a series of seminars organized by different maritime law centers in Europe under the auspices of the Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law in Oslo and the Institute of Maritime Law in Southampton. The idea is to be a forum for advanced discussion among people who are active academic writers.
This seminar discusses the multiple legal issues raised by the recent Norwegian litigation involving EU vessels catching snow crab in the Loophole and around Svalbard with a license from the flag State, but without a Norwegian license.
Chair: professor Ola Mestad, Head of Department at Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law
The subject matter of the project is contracts pertaining to the maritime sector; like charterparties, newbuilding contracts, contracts for sale and purchase of ships.
The periodical MarIus also includes SIMPLY, the Scandinavian Institute’s Maritime and Petroleum Law Yearbook. In SIMPLY the Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law presents research of it's members and friends.
For issues from 2010, see MarIus - the periodical.
Årboka har artikler på engelsk og tar for seg juridiske problemstillinger innen sjøforsikring, petroleumskontrakter og forurensning fra skip.
This book reflects the maritime law as found in the Nordic countries. It is based on the Norwegian book "Sjørett" (7th ed. 2010), which is the standard Scandinavian textbook on maritime law.
