The Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) and our partner, the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights (GA), will hold the eighth Training Workshop on UN Human Rights Mechanisms on 3.-7.- October 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland. This workshop is for participants from the MENA countries only and will include regional perspectives.

Please join us for a discussion on the impact of UN human rights treaties and mechanisms at the domestic level, organized jointly by the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (University of Oslo) and the Centre for Human Rights (University of Pretoria) as part of a project funded by Diku’s UTFORSK programme.

Two Vietnamese academics were invited by NCHR and the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights to attend an intensive training on Universal Periodic Review held in connection with the review of Vietnam before the UN Human Rights Council.

Two Chinese academics were invited to Geneva to attend a three-day training workshop on UPR and learn how academics can engage in the process under the auspice of NCHR and the Geneva Academy.

The seminar will address the role which domestic human rights actors play towards the UN Human Rights Treaty Body Review 2020 benchmark. Ministerial representatives, independent state institutions (National Human Rights Institutions and Ombudspersons) and civil society organizations have been invited to Oslo to share their experiences and discuss how to build a more effective UN Human Rights Treaty Body System for all stakeholders.

More than 60 young Chinese and international PhD and master students participated in the seminar series 2-7 July on UN Human Rights Mechanisms in Beijing.

Thirteen scholars and academics from China, Cuba, Indonesia, Iran, Norway and Vietnam attended the II training on UN Human Rights Mechanisms 14-18 May.
