The 13th Bilateral Human Rights Dialogue between Indonesia and Norway took place in Nusa Dua, Bali on Sunday, October 29, 2018.
Last week NCHR co-hosted the side event "Progress on the Development of the Universal Protocol on Investigative Interviewing and Associated Safeguards" at the UN in New York. The event was moderated by Assistant Secretary General (ASG) for human rights, Andrew Gilmour, and brought together UN agency, civil society and member state representatives.
NCHR contributes to the international conference “Fair treatment of People in Police custody”, organised by Brandenburg University of Applied Police Sciences in Oranienburg, Germany, 16-17 October.
In September 2018, NCHR guest lecturer Dr. River Kate Hustad was invited by several universities in Beijing and Shanghai.
The second teacher training lecture series on Gender and Human Rights Education took place in Shanghai in the end of September. The aim is to facilitate so that more universities in China are able to offer courses on human rights issues related to gender inequality.
Equality and non-discrimination principles are present in the International Bill of Rights that comprises the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR).
This was the main conclusion of a seminar organised at the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights Tuesday September 11, 2018. The topic of the seminar was Indonesia 20 Years after the Fall of Suharto, and the emphasis was mainly on the human rights situation.
The seminar will address the role which domestic human rights actors play towards the UN Human Rights Treaty Body Review 2020 benchmark. Ministerial representatives, independent state institutions (National Human Rights Institutions and Ombudspersons) and civil society organizations have been invited to Oslo to share their experiences and discuss how to build a more effective UN Human Rights Treaty Body System for all stakeholders.
More than 60 young Chinese and international PhD and master students participated in the seminar series 2-7 July on UN Human Rights Mechanisms in Beijing.
