On 22 August the Norwegian Center for Human Rights hosted a seminar on the legal protection and policy development against domestic violence for women, children, and the elderly, focusing on the new anti-domestic violence law in China.

On November 20, 2021, the seminar "Business and Human Rights in the National Human Rights Action Plan" was held in Guangzhou. The seminar was co-organized by the Research Institute for Human Rights at Guangzhou University and Wuhan University in China.

The United Nations Audiovisual Library of International Law invited Prof. Dr. Cecilia M. Bailliet to give a lecture on Women Refugees and Gender Persecution. Her article 'Examination of the Effects of Deportation as a Result of Revocation of Status Upon the Rights to Non-Discrimination, Family Unity, and the Best Interests of the Child: An Empirical Case from Norway' was also recently published in the Human Rights Brief.

The Norwegian Centre for Human Rights and the Rafto Foundation welcomes you to a lecture with Patrick Ball, looking at the role of data and statistics in truth commissions and tribunals. Ball is the Director of Research at the Human Rights Data Analysis Group, who won the Rafto Human Rights Prize 2021.

Last week NCHR co-hosted the side event "Progress on the Development of the Universal Protocol on Investigative Interviewing and Associated Safeguards" at the UN in New York. The event was moderated by Assistant Secretary General (ASG) for human rights, Andrew Gilmour, and brought together UN agency, civil society and member state representatives.

The International Department at the NCHR hosted a seminar with guest researcher Yifeng Chen, Associate Professor at Peking University Law School and Special Adviser Wei Chen from the Economic and Social Affairs Department at the Norwegian Confederation on Trade Unions (LO).

Several pertinent human rights isssues were discussed at a seminar in Surabaya, Indonesia on February 26. All speakers were former master students or had been visiting researchers at NCHR.

The second teacher training lecture series on Gender and Human Rights Education took place in Shanghai in the end of September. The aim is to facilitate so that more universities in China are able to offer courses on human rights issues related to gender inequality.
