Afternoon meeting: Is there a need for an international treaty on environmental principles - a “Global Pact for the Environment”?

The research group for International Law and Governance invites you to this afternoon meeting with Professor Christina Voigt

The UN General Assembly decided further to establish an ad hoc open‑ended working group to consider the report and to discuss possible options to address the gaps. This may include the need to convene an intergovernmental conference to adopt an international instrument. The working group, which had its first meeting in Nairobi, 13-15 January 2019, is mandated to present its recommendations to the UN General Assembly during the first semester of 2019.

Professor Voigt was one of the three experts who wrote the report. She will provide information and insights on the process and content of the report and represent the findings of the report . She would also like to engage participants in a discussion about the need for and feasibility of codification of environmental principles in a new legally-binding international agreement."
