The risks of climate change are increasingly recognized, as highlighted by the widely-cited Task Force of Climate Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD). However, there are also economic, financial and corporate risks of continued pressure on other planetary boundaries, as may be illustrated by the setting up of a Task Force for Nature-Related Financial Disclosures. The risks associated with the exploitation of people and growing inequalities in and between countries also need to be integrated. Currently, a comprehensive approach is lacking. Developing a multidisciplinary concept of risk, anchored in sustainability science as well as in finance, law and management, is therefore crucial.
About the conference
This hybrid conference brings together academics from various fields to discuss how a research-based concept of risks of sustainability can be placed at the centre of law and policy, in business and finance, to contribute to ensuring a safe and just space for all living beings on this planet. The aim is to generate holistic inclusion of the risks of unsustainability at a systemic level, and unlock the potential of new modalities of sustainability law.
