On December 16, 2025, the European Parliament approved the final agreement for the Omnibus simplification package, fundamentally restructuring the original goals and ambition of much anticipated corporate accountability legislation, such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). This regulatory outcome is likely to represent a turning point also for the academic community working in this field.

This webinar, organised by the Department of Economics and Statistics 'Cognetti de Martiis' of the University of Turin together with the Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and Sustainability Law research group of the University of Oslo, will provide an opportunity to take stock on what we learnt so far and what new issues are emerging.

Speakers include Professor Andreas Rasche (CBS), who has been one of the most influential and authoritative voices from academia in the recent policy debate on the "simplification" of EU corporate accountability legislation. Andreas will discuss with Dr David Monciardini (University of Turin), who has been researching EU corporate accountability regulatory dynamics for over a decade. David recently published a book titled "Regulating EU Sustainability Reporting: Learning from Failure and Success" (Cambridge University Press Elements in Corporate Governance). The discussion will be moderated and sparked by Dr Onna van den Broek (CBS), whose research focuses on how corporate political work shapes and organises sustainability governance.

There will be time for questions and interventions by the the webinar's participants.
