Abstract
The EU Omnibus legislative proposal represents a pivotal moment for the European Green Deal, reflecting the Commission’s balancing act between ambitious sustainability commitments and growing concerns over European competitiveness. It will also serve as an early indicator of the resilience of pioneering EU green legislation in the face of global pushback against the Green Transition, particularly in the US and other regions. This presentation will offer initial reflections on the proposal’s key provisions and mechanisms, particularly in relation to the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and the EU Taxonomy Regulation. The discussion will explore its implications for the broader regulatory landscape, ongoing national transposition efforts, and corporate governance practices, setting the stage for an open exchange with the audience.
