Working towards sustainability, which we see as a safe and just world, requires unprecedented collaboration across and beyond academia. The Research Group Sustainability Law builds on more than a decade of increasingly interdisciplinary work to integrate sustainability into regulation. We invite scholars and students, practitioners, policymakers and civil society, to work with us in identifying and analysing barriers to change and co-creating possibilities for a safer and more just world.
Join us for two Sustainability Law PhD days, 14-15 September, a Sustainability Law Slam event on the evening of 15 September, and the main event: the conference Sustainability Law: Law’s Response to the Convergence of Crises, 16-18 September 2026!
Sustainability Law PhD Days: 14-15 September
The time for a stronger approach to sustainability in our law research has come! In these two PhD days, you can be a foundational part of the Sustainability Law Week by sharing insights from your PhD work, discussing with peers and senior scholars, and taking advantage of a stimulating environment that will help you to expand your professional network. We can guarantee plenty of time for discussion, and an informal-but-professional approach.
We are waiting for your contribution to the Sustainability Law Week: be a protagonist! We look forward to listening to your radical, groundbreaking, unexpected, thought-provoking, new, fresh and juicy sustainability-law-related ideas.

Sustainability Law Slam, 15 September 2026, 7-9 pm
In a time of converging social, ecological and economic crises, radical hope and radical self-reflection are needed to rethink how law can contribute to sustainability. The Sustainability Law Slam brings together a series of engaging performances that open new perspectives on the role of law, research, and society in addressing sustainability challenges.
From poetry and visual storytelling to thought-provoking pitches and other creative interventions, our slammers will share ideas and experiences, raise critical questions and reflections on what it takes to build a safe and just world.
The Slam will take place on Tuesday, 15 September, from 7-9 pm at Spillbaren, Kulturhuset. As an informal evening event ahead of the Sustainability Law Conference, it offers a chance to foster connections and spark conversations in an open and friendly atmosphere, setting the tone for the conference and the discussions to come.
We cannot wait to be challenged, inspired and empowered by the powerful and expressive performances our wonderful slammers will bring to the stage!
