The Sustainability Law PhD Network provides an open space for PhD candidates working on sustainability-related legal research. Its aim is to create a lively, supportive community where sustainability law PhD researchers can think together, test ideas, and stay connected beyond formal academic events. By bringing together doctoral researchers from different institutions and at different stages of their projects, the PhD Network offers opportunities for both academic discussion and informal exchange.
The PhD Network will organise regular meetings and activities in a range of formats, including:
- Research seminars where PhD candidates can present work in progress
- Informal sessions for discussion and peer exchange
- Skills sessions focusing on writing, publishing, and research methodology
- Presentations and conversations about the PhD journey, transitions to postdoctoral positions, and postdoctoral opportunities
- Book clubs discussing selected papers, books, or blog posts
The overall aim of the PhD Network is to connect PhD researchers, create opportunities to share and discuss research, and support future collaboration.
First meeting: 19 February, 16:00-17:00 pm
The first session will be an informal gathering. As the force behind sustainability law, Beate Sjåfjell will join us to reflect on why such a PhD Network is a valuable contribution to Sustainability Law as a research group and an emerging field of law. This will be followed by an open conversation among participants about why they joined the Network and what kinds of activities and formats they would like to see in future meetings.
Joining the PhD Network
PhD candidates who wish to take part should first sign up to join the Sustainability Law Research Group, and then sign up to the Sustainability Law PhD Network.
