Two positions as research assistant in Circular Energy

UiO:Energy project Circular Energy for a Sustainable Circular Economy (Circular Energy)

Application deadline is 1st April 2022.

Are you interested in conducting research on the regulation of products for sustainability? Join the research project Circular Energy for a Sustainable Circular Economy (Circular Energy) at the Research Group Companies, Markets and Sustainability (Company Law Group).

The successful candidate will work at the Faculty of Law as part of the interdisciplinary Circular Energy team and Company Law Group. The main task of the candidate is to write a master thesis within the research themes of Circular Energy. Examples of relevant topics are whether existing international and/or national regulation support the maintenance and repair of digital devices; what kind of legal and policy barriers there are to maintenance and repair activities; whether and how public procurement can support maintenance and repair of digital devices; how consumer protection laws contribute to or hinder mainstreaming of maintenance and repair. There are many possibilities – these are just a few examples! The thesis is to be written preferrably in English, but Norwegian is also an option.

Additionally, the selected candidate will assist in organising Circular Energy and Company Law Group seminars, conferences and other events, and assist in the research and writing activities of researchers in Circular Energy and Company Law Group teams.

The research assistant position will be a 50 % position for one year, starting in August 2022 (or later by agreement). The pay is 50 % of pay grade 35, which constitutes a gross salary of NOK 182,200 per year.

Requirements

The successful candidate will normally have completed at least the third year of their master degree in law, or have enrolled in one of the specialised LL.M. programs of the Faculty of Law. The candidate will write large master thesis (60 credits). The final choice of the topic for the master’s thesis will be made together with Postdoctoral researcher Eléonore Maitre-Ekern and Professor Beate Sjåfjell, leader of the Company Law Group. Publication of the work in English, and if applicable also in Norwegian, will be encouraged.

As the working language of Circular Energy is English, candidates should have a good command of written and spoken English. As some activities may take place in Norwegian and other Scandinavian languages, good knowledge of a Scandinavian language is an advantage, but not a condition.

Applicants should provide a short statement (maximum 2 pages) explaining their interest in and suitability for the position, transcripts of their University grades, and a short CV (maximum 2 pages). Applications should be sent by e–mail to Eléonore Maitre-Ekern

Short-listed applicants will be invited to an interview.

For more information about the position(s), please contact either Postdoctoral researcher Eléonore Maitre-Ekern or Professor Beate Sjåfjell.

The deadline for application is 1st April 2022.
