Bakgrunn

Sveinung Sandberg har dr. grad i sosiologi fra Universitetet i Bergen og har senere vært postdoktor ved Institutt for Sosiologi og Samfunnsgeografi ved Universitetet i Oslo. I 2013 ble han ansatt som førsteamanuensis ved Institutt for kriminologi og rettssosiologi, og i 2014 ble han professor ved samme institutt.

Hans forskning kretser rundt terrorisme, marginalisering, vold, maskulinitet, illegale rusmidler og sosiale bevegelser, ofte med en narrativ eller diskursanalytisk vinkling.

Sandberg er for tiden gjesteforsker ved CIDE (Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas) i Mexico City.
