Bakgrunn

Malcolm Langford er professor ved Det juridiske fakultet, Universitetet i Oslo, og professor II ved Det juridiske fakultet, Universitet i Bergen. Han er leder ved Centre for Experiential Legal Learning (CELL), et Senter for fremragende utdanning (SFU). Han er for tiden på forskertemin (juli 2022 - juni 2023).

En jurist og samfunnsviter med flere enn 150 publikasjoner som spenner over menneskerettigheter, internasjonal investering, internasjonal utvikling, komparativ konstitusjonalisme, teknologi og politikk innen det juridiske yrke. Han er medredaktør i Cambridge University Book Series om globalisering og menneskerettigheter og leder COPIID, et stort forskningsprosjekt om politikk for overholdelse av beslutningene innen investeringsvoldgift, og fungerer som rådgiver for ulike FN-organer, regjeringer og frivillige organisasjoner. Han sitter ved Pedagogakademiet ved Universitetet i Oslo, i nasjonale ekspertgruppen om digital læringsanalyses og i styret til European Implementation Network (EIN), JustLabs, Hahdi Africa og Avant Garde. Han stiftet Forum for internasjonale forskere i Oslo (FIRO).

Han har tidligere nestleder ved Senter for lov og sosial transformasjon ved Chr. Michelsen Institutt og Universitetet i Bergen, leder av en globale Academic Forum for Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS),medredaktør av Routledge Book Series om Nordic Studies in a Global Context og leder av et stort forskningsprosjekt om Nordisk eksepsjonalisme (2017-2020). Han var koordinator av det Forum for Law and Social Science, Global School on Socio-Economic Rights og Den digitale jurist. Han var også tidligere gjesteforsker ved Universitetet i California (Berkeley), Fridtjof Nansen instituttet, Universitetet i Mannheim, Universitetet i Stellenbosch og PluriCourts Senter for fremragende forskning, Seniorrådgiver ved senter for boliger og utsettelser i Geneve (2001-2006), og forsker ved Det norske senter for menneskerettigheter (2007-2014).
