Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law consists of Department of maritime law, Department of petroleum and energy law and Centre for european law. We also host research groups for environmental law and international law of contracts.

The Institute is also a part of the cooperation between Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden through the Nordic Cooncil of Ministers.

The Centre is interdisciplinary and serves scholars doing research on European Law. We also make studies for Norwegian ministries and provide legal practitioners working with EEA law with relevant information.

The Centre is interdisciplinary and serves academics at the Faculty of Law and guest researchers doing research on European and EEA law. Our library is recognized by the EU commission as a public documentation centre. Professors at the Centre also make studies for Norwegian ministries.
