Advocates of Humanity: Human Rights NGOs in International Criminal Justice

At the PluriCourts lunch seminar, Kjersti Lohne will talk about the role of human rights NGOs in international criminal justice based on her recently defended PhD thesis “Advocates of Humanity”.

Lohne's research is based on multi-sited ethnography and interviews with key players in The Hague (and other places in The Netherlands) and in Uganda, as well as Belgium, Norway, Rwanda and the UK.

As PluriCourts funded Lohne’s research in Uganda, the presentation will in particular focus on the connections and disconnections between the global north and global south in "international criminal justice-making.”

The PluriCourts lunch series gathers researchers from various backgrounds, including law, political science and philosophy to discuss on-going research on international courts and tribunals. The lunches occur on Wednesdays.
