Writer's Workshop: Norway and Human Rights

This closed workshop will discuss Norwegian law and its relationship with the European Court of Human Rights.

The international protection of human rights has been a commanding element in the national development of law in many countries for the last fifty years. Protection of the individual's rights has been strengthened considerably. However, there is still an ongoing debate in Norway and in other European countries on what significance international human rights - in particular the European Court of Human Rights - should have in relation to national sovereignty, democratic self-governance and the position of national courts.

The meeting is organized for the writer's attached to the PluriCourts book project "Norway and Human Rights", and is thus a closed workshop.
