The Fund supports "the education of outstanding students pursuing graduate level study in the social sciences and humanities with high potential for leadership and commitment to exercising leadership".

Høgestøl is writing her PhD on the prosecutions at the Special Court for Sierra Leone (SCSL). The SCSL became the first international criminal court to close since Nuremberg. Her PhD will critically reflect on what the prosecutorial experiences of the SCSL tells us about the legitimacy and feasibility of prosecuting atrocity crimes. In 2014, she will conduct field work in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
