Voigt: Paris Agreement Allows for Continuous Improvement of Climate Policies
PluriCourts coordinator Christina Voigt is part of the Norwegian team at the climate negotiations in Paris. In the Norwegian TV programme Dagsnytt 18, she talked about the binding climate agreement which was concluded on 12 December 2015.
Voigt highlighted that the climate agreement is a universal binding document. It will have a huge impact on the global economy to achieve the ambitious goal of limiting global warming to 2 degrees.
States commit themselves to measures to achieve this goal. Their concrete steps are being reviewed regularly, which allows for a gradual and continuous follow-up of national climate policies.
Voigt was also clear on the fact that much work remained in drafting the final text of the document, which is to enter into force in 2020.
