MultiRights Seminar: International Courts and the Making of World Society
Prof. Mikael Rask Madsen is the head of iCourts, a centre of excellence funded by the Danish National Research Foundation. Prof. Madsen will give an introduction to the research of the centre at the MultiRights Seminar.
This presentation traces the evolution of international courts from their origins in the beginning of the 20th century to their contemporary proliferation. The presentation uses insights from both law and historical sociology to determine the shifts and ruptures that have influenced how international courts have developed and come to be an integral part of not only international politics and law, but also what with a slightly vague term might be termed an emerging world society.
