La deliberazione pubblica. Pluralismo, complessità e democrazia
Claudio Corradetti, Postdoctoral fellow, MultiRights, has edited (translation and preface) the book "Public Deliberation: Pluralism, Complexity and Democracy". The book written by James Bohman has become a classic reference in the international debate on public deliberation.
Is it possible to reconcile cultural pluralism with the public dimension deliberation? Starting from a critical analysis of Rawls and Habermas, James Bohman offers an innovative answer to the question of the democratic state. In this proposal, in parallel to the rejection of purely strategic solutions, is rehabilitated the notion of moral compromise in the framework of a regulatory agreement. Keeping faith with the prospect of factual and normative elements, the author seeks to broaden the democratic opportunities in the reconciliation of their deep cultural conflicts of contemporary society. The element of civic participation therefore appears to be an essential component for the production of a public vibrant sphere. The result is a convincing reconstruction not only to fend off criticisms of skeptics about the real possibilities of democratic inclusiveness, but also for the more effective deliberative model for the guarantee of social stability.
