Punishment of crimes, in general, and international crimes, in particular,remains primarily guided by Western-driven retributive modalities rather than by restorative initiatives. This doctoral thesis explores victims’ status at international and hybrid criminal courts which is broadly guided by the uneasy relationship between the predominant retributive justice approach and increasing restorative-oriented justice approach manifestations.
