Human Rights Education

We work to improve access to good and quality ensured human rights knowledge in our cooperating countries.

Human rights textbooks in Southeast Asia, supported by the NCHR.

What we do?

The NCHR offers courses and tuition in human rights, and contributes to the development of quality ensured curricula at important educational institutions. Our partners are local universities and experts teaching civil society, authorities and various professional groups, as police and journalists.

Why is this important?

Those who have participated in trainings or educational groups works to realise the enhanced implementation of human rights standards within authority structures, in academics or as advisors for authorities and civil society. Many participants go on to suggest legal changes and participates in public debates concerning the implementation of human rights.

Selected results:

  • China did not offer human rights education when the NCHR started working in this country. Today, such an educational offer can be found in 100 differen universities. The NCHR has been an important contributor to this development.
  • The NCHR has signed an agreement with SHAPE SEA which ensures that 20 universities within the ASEAN region will offer quality ensures human rights education.
