How can Norwegian development cooperation strengthen democracy and human rights?

The Network of Norwegian Election Observers invites you to a thematic meeting that will take a closer look at Norway's efforts in supporting the development of democracy and human rights in developing countries, with a particular focus on freedom of expression and the role of media.

Invited speakers to the thematic session are Petter Magnus Skjæveland and Ivar Evensmo from the department for economic development, gender and governance in the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD).

Skjæveland works in the section of development strategies and governance, and Evensmo in the section for human rights and gender equality. They both have extensive experience from working with democracy and human rights issues in several countries in the Middle East, Africa and the Balkans.

Moderator of the session is Åse Marie Fossum from the Network of Norwegian Election Observers.

Light snacks will be served from 04.30 PM. The formal program starts at 05.00 PM - 07.00 PM

The meeting will be conducted in Norwegian and is open to all.
