NORDEM meetings in New York
The week of 15-19 April, NORDEM held meetings with partners, secondees and prospective partner organizations in New York.
Fruitful discussions were held with the United Nations Development Program, Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Department of Political Affairs, UN Women, Justice Rapid Response, the Social Science Research Council and the Norwegian delegation to the United Nations.
NORDEM also attended the re-opening ceremony of the UN Security Council Chamber on 16th April, hosted by His Excellency Mr. Espen Barth Eide, Minister of Foreign Affairs in Norway and attended by H.E. Secretary-General of the United Nations Mr. Ban Ki-moon. The ceremony was followed by a High-Level Panel Discussion on “The UN Security Council Chamber – The most important room in the world?” The panel debate was moderated by Richard Roth, CNN senior UN correspondent and panelists were Espen Barth Eide (Norway), Shashi Tharoor, Minister of State India, Bruno Stagno Ugarte, Executive Director Security Council Report (Costa Rica), Fatou Besouda, Chief Prosecutor International Criminal Court (Gambia) and Alaa Murabit, Founder and Chairwoman of The Voice of Libyan Women (Canada/Libya).
