NORDEM Observers to Kazakhstan

OSCE/ODIHR is observing the early presidential election in Kazakhstan to be held on 26 April. NORDEM has sent two long-term and seven short-term observers to this mission.

The OSCE/ODIHR election observation mission will assess the electoral process for compliance with OSCE commitments and other international standards for democratic elections, as well as with national legislation. Observers will monitor the legislative framework and its implementation, the work of the election administration, campaign activities, media coverage and the resolution of election disputes.

Headed by Cornelia Jonker, the mission consists of a core team of 11 international experts based in the capital Astana. 30 long-term observers and 400 short-term observers have been deployed to follow proceedings on election day.
