The EU has established an EOM to Peru to observe the 2016 Presidential Elections scheduled to be held on 10 April with a possible second round on 5 June 2016.

50 long-term observers will arrive in Lima this weekend. They will be deployed all around the country to observe the preparations for the elections and the procedures on election day  The observations will result in a preliminary statement which will be published shortly after the elections and followed later by a more detailed report with a list of recommendations.

You can read more about the EOM on the mission’s homepage and follow the mission’s activities on Twitter and Facebook.

Briefing in Oslo before departure

The Norwegian long term observer received a briefing in Oslo administered by NORDEM, including a briefing on the political situation by Jemima Garcia-Godos, Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology and Human Geograph, University of Oslo, before the long-term observer left for Lima.
