IFES (International Foundation for Electoral Systems) sponsors an annual photography contest that seeks photographs of individuals taking part in elections or other activities that demonstrate the value of democratic governance and civic engagement.
A total of 35 NORDEM Election Observers have been sent to the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission in Ukraine. In addition, NORDEM currently contributes six monitoring officers to the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine.

NORDEM/the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights and the Al Jazeera Media Training & Development Center, are organizing a human rights and media workshop for journalists. NORDEM has been tasked by Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to send 36 election observers to observe the upcoming presidential election in Ukraine on 25 May. Berit Bachen Dahle, former police investigator and sexual and gender based violence expert, has been part of a four-member panel of independent specialists conducting an independent external review for the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Observers from the NORDEM roster have established a network for Norwegian election observers. The network will facilitate exchange of experiences and information between election observers in Norway and will arrange seminars on election related topics. The network is independent from NORDEM but will cooperate with NORDEM on events and seminars.

According to the OSCE preliminary statement, the Presidential election in Tajikistan took place peacefully, but restrictive candidacy requirement, a formalistic and largely indiscernible campaign resulted in a lack of a real choice and meaningful pluralism.
