In this guest lecture, Lola Avril will introduce her book project, which explores the close, even symbiotic, relationship that has developed between lawyers and the European political and administrative fields from the Treaty of Rome to the present day. Employing a multidisciplinary approach, the book traces the evolution of the role of Euro-lawyers in European competition policy: while they were marginalized in the 1960s, they have since emerged as essential intermediaries with the consolidation of the regulatory state. During the guest lecture, Lola Avril will present materials and central conclusions from her coming book, followed by questions and comments by the audience.
Lola Avril is a postdoctoral research fellow at University of Eastern Finland and holds a PhD from Pantheon-Sorbonne.
