The 66th International Studies Association (ISA) 2025 Convention

The focus of this year’s ISA Convention in Chicago (Illinois, USA), which took place from March 2nd to 5th, 2025 was “Reconnecting International Studies”. With this discipline becoming increasingly diverse in research, interdisciplinary and global, the conference aimed to bring together scholars across various domains to facilitate innovative scholarship on common research interests.

Research Paper Presentations

During a pre-organized panel entitled “Lawyers, professional service firms, and private intelligence in international political economy”, Nina’s presentation focused on the role of pro bono advocacy conducted by private law firms in connection with the right to a healthy environment in Ethiopia.

She also introduced hers and PROBONO member Ellen Vrålstad’s paper on pro bono in global governance institutions during a panel on “Private Power in World Politics”. This panel was pre-organized by Nina and Nele Kortendiek and featured PROBONO advisory board member Anna Leander as discussant.
