Academic Interests

Sollund has primarely worked with topics related to:

  • Wildlife trafficking in Norway, Colombia and Brazil. Practices and Law enforcement.
  • Police studies (racial profiling)
  • Violence
  • Migration Research

Sollund works mainly in the field of green criminology. She is currently doing qualitative research on the illegal wildlife trade in Norway, Columbia and Brazil. The project includes interviews with law enforcement agencies,  with offenders and wild life experts, e.g. from NGO's (such as TRAFFIC). Further the study includes analysis of verdicts for breaches of the CITES regulations and other relevant legislation, as well as analysis of other relevant documents.

Sollund was one of the initators of Nordic green criminology and coedited the first Nordic anthology on green criminology.

Higher education and employment history

Sollund is professor in Criminology at the Department of Criminology and Sociology of Law. She completed her Dr.polit. in 2003 with the thesis Rammer, rom og mobilitet. Innvandrerkvinners arbeidsliv about immigrant women’s occupational mobility.

Sollund has worked as a research fellow at ISF (Institute for Social Research), senior researcher at NOVA (Norwegian social research) and as a project manager on several projects, amongst others on working conditions of minority women and ethnic minoreties' encounters with the police.

Awards

2015:     Global energy award, Norway, for research project on illegal wildlife trade.
