During weekly workshops participants from Asian civil society will explore the intersectionality of human rights and double discrimination.

Together with the East Lake Institute for Social Advancement (EISA), the NCHR is organising a 5 week digital training workshop series on intersectional discrimination for Asian Civil Society. This weekend Dr. River Hustad from the NCHR International Department contributed to an international webinar about human rights protection of vulnerable groups during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Last week, the NCHR organised a seminar about the Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (CRPD) and equal recognition before the law for people with intellectual disabilities.
1. States Parties recognize that all persons are equal before and under the law and are entitled without any discrimination to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law.
2. States Parties shall prohibit all discrimination on the basis of disability and guarantee to persons with disabilities equal and effective legal protection against discrimination on all grounds.

On 8 November 2017, the International Department organized a seminar on Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the New Law of Management of Foreign NGOs in China with the guest researchers Lulu Zhou and Chi He.

The Atlas-Alliance, the Norwegian Center for Human Rights (NCHR) and Plan International Norway observe the UN’s international day of persons with disabilities by organizing a one-day seminar on inclusive development 6. December.

Representatives from more than 30 Asian NGOs working on disability issues are participating in the workshop, organised by the NCHR and partners from the East Lake Institute for Social Advancement (EISA) in Seoul, South Korea.
