Background
Maria Hansen has a PhD in criminology from the University of Oslo. Her dissertation explores ambiguity in the aftermath of sex and rape by looking at the relationships between sex, heterosexuality and subjectivity, and how a binary consent-discourse shapes how unwanted sex and rape can be made sense of. Prior to her PhD, she worked as a research assistant at NOVA, OsloMet where she conducted interviews with women subjected to domestic violence. She has also contributed to a research project at NKVTS, on sexual violence in Norwegian samí reindeer-herding communities.
