NCHR plays a crucial role in advancing knowledge on business and human rights among academics, government officials, CSOs, and private sector representatives.
What we do
-
We support education and research on business and human rights
-
We build capacity and knowledge within the private sector on how business and human rights interact.
-
We promote awareness of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP).
-
NCHR supports academia and civil society actors in their research and advocacy efforts to protect human rights in face of increased business investments.
While states have the overall responsibility to uphold and protect human rights, the private sector also plays a key role and is central to achieving human rights and the UN sustainable development goals. Companies are expected to take responsibility for ethical aspects of their business practices and how they impact human rights and the environment. The expanding influence and impact of business enterprises has sparked an ongoing debate about their roles and responsibilities in relation to human rights.
NCHR holds knowledge and conducts new research within this field. Through the work of the Interntional department, we support the integration of human rights into business practices internationally. NCHR plays a crucial role in advancing knowledge on business and human rights among academics, government officials, CSOs, and private sector representatives. By offering master's courses, PhD opportunities, academic publications, seminars, and international collaboration projects, NCHR provides a valuable academic foundation for the study and discussion of human rights in the business context.
