Editor of The Nordic Journal of Human Rights (1990-1995 and 2010-2018). Political scientist with more than 30 years of experience from research and policy analysis in sub-Sahara Africa and South East Asia. Thematically his work has focused on issues of human rights and development, business and human rights; democratisation and multi-party elections in Sub-Saharan Africa; governance and ethnic diversity;  transitional justice; development aid; power and human rights. Numerous consultancies for NORAD, the World Bank, the European Union and development NGOs. International election observer in Zambia, Ethiopia and Kenya.
