Welcoming new employees at the NCHR

The NCHR is excited to welcome two new employees this semester: Katarina Lavrinenko Friis-Olsen and Eivind Lohndal are joining the International Department and the Centre administration, respectively. We look forward to working with them both!

Both Friis-Olsen and Lohndal joined the Centre in March, and were quick to express their excitement about their new positions and the work to come.

Lohndal, who has a background in communications and history, joins us from OsloMet.

- I am excited to join the NCHR and bring my administrative support and project coordination skills to the Centre. Although my background is not in human rights, I am eager to learn and contribute to the Centre's work and future projects, he says.

As part of the Centre administration, he will provide support for a variety of the Centre's projects, including organizing workshops and conferences. Not one for a slow start, he has already helped organize the UTFORSK project's concluding conference on the Domestic Impact of Global and Regional Human Rights Law - and he is now moving on to several new projects.

Moving to the International Department

Katarina Friis-Olsen already has background from the Centre, moving to the International Department from a previous role in the Centre administration. In her new position, she works as project coordinator on the project "Investigative Interviewing in Ukraine: Upholding Human Rights in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Governance".

- I'm very excited to begin my role as the new project coordinator, working alongside our partner, JustGroup, in Kyiv, she says.

- JustGroup and my colleagues at the NCHR has already made significant steps in integrating this methodology into the country's criminal justice sector, and I'm eager to continue learning from them and contribute to enhancing interviewing and investigative skills in Ukraine.

Promoting human rights

Just like Friis-Olsen, Lohndal is excited to contribute to the Centre's work to strengthen human rights as both academic and practical fields across the globe.

- Even though I haven't been here long, I already understand why people stay and work here for a long time. I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues to advance our mission of promoting human rights and justice, he says.

We at the NCHR would like to extend our warmest welcome to them both!
