Erasmus+ Global Mobility, University of Prishtina, Kosovo

The Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) collaborates with the University of Prishtina to advance human rights teaching in the fields of human rights, transitional justice, democracy, and the rule of law.

Student and staff mobility

Erasmus+ Global Mobility Programme supports mobility between European higher education institutions. The collaboration between the NCHR and the University of Prishtina (UP) will include joint teaching and research initiatives which are furthered through several incoming and outgoing student and academic staff mobilities.

The project aims to attract interest in studying Kosovo's ongoing efforts to implement international human rights standards and transitional justice reforms related to the 1998-1999 conflict and the post-conflict period.

Internationalizing legal education

The University of Prishtina is the largest university in Kosovo, and its Faculty of Law trains lawyers that work for central and local government, as well as for the private sector and civil society. It has long experience with the exchange of students and staff. UP aims at increasing the internationalization of its legal education and research through collaboration with high-ranking universities in Europe and beyond, and this project aims to contribute to improved teaching programs and research initiatives.

Project aims:

  • Fostering student and staff mobility to advance research-based teaching in the field of human rights, transitional justice, democracy, and the rule of law.
  • Expand the teaching of human rights-related courses in English at the University of Prishtina, and renew the course curricula at the NCHR Master program.
  • Develop doctoral research courses on international human rights methodology and transitional justice challenges to improve the research skills of young researchers.

Through this project, students and staff will gain excellent international experience and exposure as visitors and as hosts. This will strengthen both UiO's and the UP's global education initiatives, and foster cutting-edge research in its field. Prior to this, UiO had no exchange students from Kosovo.
