Thematic group on consumer law and digitalisation

The thematic group on consumer law and digitalisation aims to foster collaboration across academic institutions and provide a forum for internal and external scholars interested in how digitalisation affects law, with a particular focus on consumer law.

About the group

The group builds on the NFR-funded project Societal Security and Digital Identities (SODI), which examined how law and technology interact to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities related to the use and misuse of electronic identification. The project ran for four years and concluded in 2025.

The thematic group primarily serves as a platform for continuing the academic community and research agenda developed within SODI, including the legal implications of digitalisation and the use of eID, while also addressing broader issues in consumer law.

Objectives

The group’s objective is to maintain and further develop the research environment established through the SODI project, including ongoing activities and collaboration with the project’s many external partners.

Duration

The group continues for the period 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2027.
