Irgens-Jensen took his ph.d. on the legal protection of confidential information in 2008. He has been Associate Professor at the Department of Private Law since July 2014. He previously worked as a lawyer in the law firm Thommessen, one of Norway’s biggest law firms.
Both as a practicing lawyer and as an academic Irgens-Jensen has mainly been working in the fields of Intellectual Property Law, Unfair Competition Law and Contract Law. As a lawyer he specialized in patent litigation and worked closely with lawyers and patent attorneys from Germany, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and USA. He is an experienced lecturer, both at the University and in various supplementary education courses for lawyers. He published a book on the protection of confidential information, Bedriftens hemmelighet – og rettighet? in 2010. He has written several articles on Intellectual Property Law and Unfair Competition Law.
He is Norwegian editor of Nordiskt Immateriellt Rättsskydd (NIR), the leading Nordic journal of Intellectual Property Law.
