Supporting child-friendly justice in Ukraine
NCHR met with members of Ukraine's working group developing a national protocol for investigative interviewing of children. The discussions focused on strengthening child-friendly interviewing practices and ensuring that the best interests of the child are safeguarded throughout criminal proceedings.

Ukraine has made significant progress in developing approaches to investigative interviewing that better protect children's rights. Sigrid Buseth, former Detective Superintendent and NCHR consultant, contributed with expertise and practical experience from child interviewing in criminal cases.
Supporting children's rights and promoting effective, rights-based investigative interviewing remain key priorities in NCHR's and JustGroups programme in Ukraine.
New partnership with King Danylo University
The visit also included meetings with King Danylo University in Ivano-Frankivsk to discuss a new academic partnership focused on pre-trial investigation, investigative interviewing, and human rights in criminal justice.

The partnership aims to support the education of a new generation of legal professionals equipped to conduct fair, non-coercive, and evidence-based investigations in line with international standards. The project is funded by HK-dir through the Nansen EDU programme, Norad.

Strengthening long-term cooperation with Norway
In Lviv, NCHR and its partner JustGroup also met with representatives of Norway's Nansen Programme for Ukraine to discuss ongoing cooperation and future efforts to strengthen organisational capacity and compliance.
