Sharing Norwegian Experiences at UN High-Level Panel on Investigative Interviewing

Ms. Ingebjørg Hansen from the Oslo Police shared Norwegian experiences with non-coercive Interviewing during a high-level panel at the UN Headquarters in New York.

The panel was headed by Assistant Secretary General for human Rights, Mr. Andrew Gilmour.

Ms. Ingebjørg Hansen is a Senior Investigative Officer at the Homicide Department at the Oslo police district and was accompanied by NCHR to participate in the panel titled International Guidelines on Non-Coercive Interviewing and Associated Safeguards: Current Status and the Way Forward.

The panel emphasized that human rights, security, and sovereignty go hand in hand, and that the Guidelines will support this claim. The positive gender aspect that an emphasis on competence would entail was also highlighted as particularly important. - Gisle Kvanvig, NCHR Project Manager. 

Ms. Hansen participated in the panel alongside UN Police Adviser and Director of Police Division, Mr. Luis Carrilho, Ms. Alka Pradhan, Human Rights Counsel at Guantanamo Bay Military Commissions, and Juan Mendez, former UN Special Rapporteur on Torture. The panel was followed by an open discussion.
